Clean Planet Energy today announced it has been accepted as an ISCC member.
The ISCC is the body for International Sustainability & Carbon Certification, providing sustainability solutions for fully traceable of supply chains. The purpose of the ISCC is to contribute to the implementation of environmentally, socially and economically sustainable production and use of all kinds of biomass in global supply chains. This includes calculating and reducing GHG emissions and establishing traceability in global supply chains.
In the energy sector, the ISCC is a globally applicable sustainability certification system and covers all sustainable recycled carbon fuels and renewable fuels of non-biological origin.
The circular products produced at a Clean Planet ecoPlant can either be circular petrochemical feedstocks (which is used to generate new plastics), or ultra-low sulphur fuels (used to lower greenhouse gas emissions if used as a replacement to fossil fuels). As a member of ISCC, Clean Planet Energy is committed to pursue ISCC certified products with full control of its supply chain, and to actively contribute to the ISCC community to shape a better sustainable world, together with other stakeholders.
With currently over 4,800 valid certificates in more than 100 countries, ISCC is among the world’s largest certification systems addressing sustainability for all feedstocks and markets, including food, industrial applications, feed, and energy. It has been developed through an open multi-stakeholder process and is governed by an association with more than 160 members, including research institutes and NGO’s.
CPE’s mission is to remove over 1 million tonnes of hard-to-recycle plastic waste from the environment every year. It will achieve this mission by seeking to continuously devise and implement green technologies and processes (such as the Clean Planet ecoPlant) that prevent plastic waste from entering earth’s environment and oceans, while also reducing the world’s demand for non-circular products. It aims to divert hard-to-recycle waste plastics away from the world’s landfills, incinerators, and oceans — a major environmental win.
Being accepted by the ISCC is a significant step forward for Clean Planet Energy in its mission to be recognised for the reduced-carbon and circular products it plans to output at its ecoPlants.
